February 2026 Recap

Episode 1

If I could sum up my month into 20 minutes.

I’m living in a sitcom and this episode is called “Groundhog’s Day”. It all starts with my husband realizing there is bird poop all over the balcony but never seeing the birds, and then finally he catches them in the act. He is absolutely pissed, a reaction comparable to seeing a person poop on your front stoop. In a rage he turns on the fan, the rage building as he waits for them to get off. I then catch him staring out the window throughout the day, and when I ask what he’s doing I just hear “why only our balcony”. We will be mid conversation and I see his eyes just shoot to the window “pigeon” he whispers.

And why is the episode called “Groundhog’s Day” you might be wondering? Because it’s a daily dance between Blan and the pigeons. At night when it’s time for bed, we have to turn the fan off, so every morning the pigeons find their way back to their favorite bathroom and every afternoon I hear that fan go right back on.

Can it get any worse I ask myself? Yes it can. When I asked him to review this, he told me I forgot the ‘d’ in pigeon.

Must Be Love On The Brain

My two worlds collided.

February, the season of love… Love Is Blind. After the most insufferable cast of all time, with not a single couple having a chance of saying yes at the altar, I think it’s fair to say the producers redeemed themselves and provided us a cast that may make us cringe, but doesn’t make us question a whole state’s sanity. I’m not proud to admit it, but I’m in so deep this season that I fully sent a work email and said “we should ask Chris and Ashley to do it”, the response I get back the next day was “ping me when you are online”. One sentence caused a spiral of confusion that may lead to me getting a wellness check, because it probably goes without saying there is no Chris and Ashley at work – just in Love Is Blind.

Epic Really Was Epic

How Busch Gardens fell short in comparison.

My last trip to Busch Gardens made me realize, when you take your time, you are able to truly take in a moment… but some moments are not meant to be relished. The last two times I went to Busch Gardens was pure action – roller coaster to roller coaster, no time to take in my surroundings. I was too busy running to the next thrill to see the dirt, feel the heat, watch the unsavory interactions, and hear the vulgar conversations. So when I went to Busch Gardens this month, with 4 rides randomly out of order, and having to wait 40+ minutes for the others, I had plenty of time to take in Busch Garden for what it really is, and it turns out it’s not the park I was hyping it up to be. Once you’ve been to Epic Universe, no experience can compare. You realize you do not have to settle for anything less than pristine – from bathrooms to waiting rooms.

Now do not get me wrong, I have no regrets and I will go back to Busch Gardens, just on a day I can ensure nobody else will be there.

Pursuing My Passions

Apologies to my neighbors for the endless beats and freestyling.

My whole life I’ve had this gnawing feeling that in another life, I was meant to be a back up dancer for Justin Bieber. Not because I love JB, not because I love hip-hop dancing, not because I have the talent, it’s just been this feeling I’ve always had. Lately though another thought has been creeping in, what if I was destined to be a rapper? This last month I wrote a rap and it really wasn’t hard. While I do not think I have the vocabulary, grit, or the innate ability, I think there is something there.

Reach out if you’d like to hear my latest work or want to commission a rap, seems like a good passion project to carry into March.

What’s Hot In The Market

Investing in our future.

Look, I’ve been in my financial education era, and I think it’s only fair I help you guys too. I was once told that when investing in stocks, you should try to predict what company will come to market with a solution to a problem we’re seeing in society. So here’s my biggest problem: why is it almost $8 for a bag of chocolate chips? For two cups. I remember when a good bag was $3.99. What is going to come out that can replace the feeling of chocolate chips, the most iconic ingredient of all time? Entire desserts are literally named after them. Is something bigger and better on the horizon? If you predict it you may get a big payout.

High School Never Ends

I’ll call this a social experiment to make myself feel better about this interaction.

Are you even Gen Z if you haven’t pulled off the classic choreographed group chat maneuver?

Step one: you and one friend text separately and come up with the plan.
Step two: you argue over who has to send it to the group.
Step three: one sends it, and the other promises to respond within three minutes so it doesn’t sit there. Because for some reason, nothing feels more exposing than an unresponded to text

I really thought this anxiety would end after school. But this February, I learned that is not the case.

Which brings me to the real question: what do you do if you message the group chat and no one responds?

Rapid Fire

Highlights of the month.

Food and Drinks

Best dish: Homemade banana pancakes, hate them out, could eat a whole batch at home.

Best coffee: While they might give you their half drunken drink by mistake and have an unsavory name considering it’s a brother sister duo, Lovr Boys coffee blew me away.

New drink: Strawberry ginger ale. I expected artificial sweets, but was impressed with the light tang of strawberry and still pronounced ginger flavor. If you want a thorough review ask Blan since he drank 11 of the 12 cans.

Sweet treat: I’m late to the trend by a few years, but I am finally accepting Tony’s chocolate into my life.

Epic fail: Why did I believe baking brookies for 20 minutes at 325 was going to give me a complete dish? To sum up the baking experience in three words: batter to burnt.

Media Moments

Shows: If you want to be on the edge of your seat with a pit in your stomach, I can’t recommend PONIES enough.

Music: I’m embarrassed to admit, but this last year all I’ve been able to stomach is Hamilton, and finally I’ve been pulled out of it. Thank you Blan for introducing me to the power of British rap, I do not know what February would’ve been without Dave and Cench.

Olympics: Alysa Liu is THAT diva.

Biggest Shocks

Business: JCPenney closing after I dressed as Mr. JCPenney for Halloween. Coincidence? I think not.

Fashion: This just in, nobody wants to wear dried vanilla.

Cultural: Casually walking through an art market to learn Blan has been someone else’s muse. Should we cop or call the cops?

I have lived the pigeon scenario a hundred times over with Blan in my life – it’s fascinating to see in real time.

If no one responds to me in the gc I literally forget about it so I guess nothing happens????

Went back to Lovr Boys (shocking I know) and can confirm the switch up has not happened again. If I think about it too much, I want to crawl into a hole 🙂 but the coffee is so good ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Laughing out loud. My favorite story to tell is how you just handled it like an absolute boss 😂

To cop or call the cops? Now that is the real question.
